Reading / Resource Teacher: Full Time - Benefits. Starts 2025-26 SY Snyder, Union and Northumberland Counties.
OB LOCATION: Nonpublic schools within Northumberland, Union, and Snyder counties. The anticipated start date is August 4, 2025 for the 2025-26 school year.
JOB ASSIGNMENT: Nonpublic School Services
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: This position reports directly to the Supplemental Education Services Program Manager and in their absence, to the Chief Academic Officer.
JOB DEFINITION: This position provides remedial instruction to those students who are experiencing educational difficulties in
participating nonpublic schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer benchmark and diagnostic tests and/or use curriculum-based assessment with students to determine program
eligibility and/or withdrawal from program.
Maintain records on each participating student.
Coordinate instructional activities with school administrator, classroom teacher, related staff and/or parents.
Plan and implement academic intervention support to students in reading and math.
Regularly update the nonpublic database to include services provided to each student and to monitor student outcomes.
Provide pre- and post-testing of students to determine the appropriate type and level of services needed.
Serve as CSIU liaison with nonpublic schools to which assigned.
Provide periodic reports in writing to parents.
Share materials with schools and other Act 89 staff.
Coordinate services with the Equitable Participation coordinator and district Title I staff.
Submit all required student data and paperwork in a timely fashion (i.e., monthly reports, travel vouchers, requisitions, schedules).
Monitor the condition of the trailers/mobile units used as workspaces and report any maintenance concerns to the appropriate personnel.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform other job-related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or designee.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in education and a valid Pennsylvania Reading Specialist K-12 certification is required.
Prior experience as a classroom teacher is preferred.
The ability to work collaboratively and professionally with other staff, nonpublic school personnel, and students.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues, co-workers,
community agency personnel, and students/trainees.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Computer experience with database, spreadsheets, and word
processing required.
Requires the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships using tact and diplomacy and to remain calm in unpredictable situations.
Maintain confidentiality regarding education programs, students and parents at all times adhering to the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements to protect staff and student data.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:
Current, approved Act 34 (PA State Police), Act 151 (PA Child Abuse Registry) and Act 114-FBI Fingerprint clearances are required and must be renewed at appropriate, specific intervals pursuant to Act 153 of 2014 (revised Act 15 of 2015).
Current, approved Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training certificate showing completion of a minimum of three (3) hours training every five (5) years.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Maintain PDE certification requirements of Act 48 hours for the
Professional Education Records Management System (PERMS) specific five (5) year periods.
Attend conferences, workshops, and training identified as important to the operation of an effective instructional program and enhance
professional development.
Stay current with any new educational initiatives within the educational field.
Participate in the eight (8) days of professional development as scheduled with immediate supervisor.
Remain up-to-date with computer software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary: Able to sit for extended periods of time, occasional
walking, standing (as necessary) and able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Dexterity: Finger movements (computer keyboard, calculator), eye-hand coordination (office equipment, etc.).
Audio-Visual Requirements: Within normal range with or without correction.
Is able to move throughout all buildings, floors and grounds.
Considerable bending, lifting, reaching, stretching required because of storage arrangements in trailers/mobile units.
Worksite Environment: Primarily indoors-office setting with occasional exposure to outdoor elements/climate during the day.
Mental demands: Steady response to unpredictable situations, ability to remain calm and productive during stressful situations. Demonstrates independent judgment, discretion and is able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Ability to travel to various work site locations and meetings as needed. And ability to relocate from school to school several times during course of school day is essential.
Ability to monitor and occasionally troubleshoot problems associated with instruction in a trailer or mobile unit (i.e., attach power cords to school power source is necessary).
Ability to shovel snow required.
Ability to operate existing mobile classrooms.
Ability to travel to various work site locations and meetings as needed.
TIME AND SITE REQUIREMENTS:
Full-time exempt position conforms to the negotiated requirements between the CSIU board and teachers' bargaining unit following 188 days school year schedule.
Attendance at work is a requirement of this position; any and all
absences must be approved by the immediate supervisor.
